Emotion. This is the feeling you get after living a luxurious experience. When you wear an outfit by Valentino, for example, you know that someone has thought of that outfit before you, considering the fabric and perfect stitching. And when you wear it you feel good. It is timeless elegance, an unforgettable experience; the story associated with the brand. It is to be yourself, choosing the details, adapting them to your needs. And it’s the same emotion as when you climb aboard a superyacht and you have the perception of a unique, custom-made model. This is made clear by the spaces designed ad hoc, as well as by the works of art, the choice of fabrics after considerable research, the design of the lighting and entertainment, the selection of gadgets. A universe that Dream Boats photographs each year in this “book of dreams”, a travelling companion among the boatyards where the giants of the seas are born.
Among the various projects the common language is, for once, Italian which, in this specific sector, has succeeded in creating a “universal” language of style, research, design and a lot of craftsmanship. And it is appropriate to say that “Italians do it better” to the point that, increasingly, even the best foreign creations are based on an Italian pencil at the drawing board.
With a touch of pride this year, therefore, Italy keeps its leading position in the ranking of world producers of super yachts. The 2016 trend seen sees our yards engaged on no less than 177 boats of an average length of 44.2 metres, out of the 424 yachts constructed over the year.
And if we take a look at the final figures for the percentage of units delivered worldwide between 2011 and 2015, Italy accounts for no less than 37.2%, equivalent to the total number of deliveries effected during the same period by the Netherlands, Turkey, USA and the whole Asian continent put together.
The same tune can be heard in terms of volume (gross tonnage - GT), for the world share taken by Italian producers for the 2016 portfolio of orders has amounted to 32%, while the number of orders rises to 42.7% (38% in 2015) and considering overall length as a parameter, the percentage rises to 41.7%.
